Live Pod Radio Update

Live Pod Radio is chugging along. The listener level isn't anywhere near where we would like to see it. I attribute that to my lifestyle. For years I started my work day in the wee hours of the morning. Since retiring I've had a hard time breaking that routine. My typical day starts and ends way too early for a retired person.
If I can manage to alter this schedule and keep the live programming on Live Pod Radio going later into the night, I'm sure the listener count will increase.
We've tried leaving the station go with a music play list when we weren't doing live programming. I don't feel this is a good programming option. If people strictly want to listen to music with no human interaction there are a multitude of sources for them to do it without tuning into a streaming radio station.
Over the next few days I want to discuss programming options with my partner Rick and see what we can come up with. Check back here or at http://livepodradio.com for the latest plans for the station.
Your ideas are actively solicited. Reply either here on the blog or by email at miiikeeeworld@gmail.com

My World of Food

I have always put a high priority on eating. A good meal is way up at the top of things I appreciate in life. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your point of view, I don't have the appetite I once had. I still look forward to preparing and enjoying a good meal. However I can't eat the volume of food I think I want to eat. The old expression "your eyes are bigger than your stomach" applies in my case.
I'm sure I have some sort of food addiction. I can be planning my next meal while eating a good meal. I don't think this is normal with most people.
I can live with this addiction. I know people that eat only because they know they have to take in a certain amount of food to survive. Knowing them makes me appreciate my position even more. I don't eat to live, I live to eat.

And the projects continue

Projects are moving along well. Replaced one of the routers today. I have a cable made up to interface the Skype computer to the radio streaming computer via the hardware mixer. All that is left with this project is setting levels and testing. This should proove to be an interesting addition as we will be able to take live telephone calls while broadcasting.
A couple weeks ago we were able to see the station being received on an itouch portable device. Now that is cool. I would love to have an itouch, The problem is I can build another computer for what one costs. One day perhaps. do any of you readers have any experience with the itouch or similar applications?

Internet Security

Once again internet security made the mainstream news. This time US and South Koria sites are being attacked and shut down. This is a problem that will continue and no doubt escalate over time.
Hearing this story made me think about security on home computers. I have never had a problem. I attribute it to smart internet surfing on my part. Additionally I don't store sensitive personal/financial information on my computers. Yes I want information on me known on the web. But only information I am willing to share. I don't care if people know my name or what websites I own. In fact the process of promoting my websites requires this information to be known. That being said, where I bank or do business and things of that nature have nothing to do with web site promotion and are kept private.
To keep this information secure, I save no documents, account numbers or passwords on my computers. If I have a need to save such information I utilize removable media ie: A CD or USB flash drive and don't have it connected to the computer except when I am actually using that stored information.
The bottom line is, "Your common sense and good judgement is the best internet security you have."
